Our guest Karen Laven was always a shy person but, once she became a parent that shines grew into (Agoraphobia) an anxiety disorder that can make it difficult for people to try new things or leave their home. Join us as Karen shares her story, while she still struggles with Agoraphobia today she has gone to publish several books, work as a voice actor, and even tried standup comedy because to quote Karen "as you get older you just got let it hang out". Karen Laven is a former newspaper reporter and author of Cincinnati Ghosts and Dayton Ghosts as well as several humor books and a Young Adult Sci-Fi book. In addition to writing Karen has acted in film, stage, TV and commercials. She wrote a fifteen minute piece on her struggles with agoraphobia/shyness and performed it live on stage at True Theatre in Cincinnati (and lived to tell about it!). She plays the mother of the main character in the movie, Mothman, which is streaming on Amazon Prime and Tubi, and recently shot a short film produced by the writer of Rudy and Hoosiers.
